Este trabalho aborda questões de dádiva e práticas de mercado e como elas se articulam com formas de resistência camponesa, a partir de uma etnografia com mulheres camponesas do litoral norte do Rio Grande do Sul. Este trabalho aborda questões de dádiva e práticas de mercado e como elas se articulam com formas de resistência camponesa, a partir de uma etnografia com mulheres camponesas do litoral norte do Rio Grande do Sul. Através do trabalho com plantas medicinais este grupo de mulheres atua no cuidado e atenção à saúde de suas famílias e de sua comunidade. O principal pressuposto dessa pesquisa é que o cuidado e atenção à saúde praticada por essas mulheres estão inseridos dentro de uma rede de relações em que os princípios da teoria da dádiva prevalecem. Por meio dos dados etnográficos é possível inferir que além dos produtos confeccionados pelas mulheres são as relações constituídas entre elas e a comunidade que atuam nos processos terapêuticos. As relações, no entanto, também marcam os limites entre as dádivas e as práticas mercadológicas que envolvem os produtos e o cotidiano do grupo. Todos esses elementos estão articulados com práticas de resistência camponesa, sejam elas através da luta dentro de movimentos sociais, ou por meio de atos cotidianos a nível local.
