Introdução: A natação é um esporte que demanda força e resistência, exigindo diferentes combinações dos sistemas aeróbico e anaeróbico conforme o ciclo de treinamento visando o aprimoramento de variáveis fisiológicas. A fim de promover adequada recuperação, estado de saúde, garantir a máxima adaptação ao treinamento, a manutenção ou obtenção da composição corporal ideal, e o alcance de um alto desempenho, o consumo energético e a distribuição dos macronutrientes necessitam se adequar à fase e às sessões de treinamento diárias. Objetivo: Descrever e analisar a adequação de energia e macronutrientes diários em relação às sessões de treinamento em nadadores competitivos. Metodologia: Foi avaliado o consumo alimentar por meio de registro alimentar em 19 atletas competitivos (8 mulheres e 11 homens) de uma equipe de natação competitiva de nível nacional, durante a fase basal de treinamento. Foram coletadas informações sobre o treinamento com o treinador e realizado o acompanhamento das sessões de exercício na semana correspondente à coleta de dados. Informações referentes à composição corporal foram obtidas com o departamento médico da equipe. Estimaram-se o gasto e a disponibilidade energéticas. Resultados: foi identificado déficit energético diário em 87,5% das mulheres e 63,6% dos homens, bem como inadequação no consumo de carboidrato e em sua distribuição de ingestão: antes, durante e após as sessões de treinamento dos nadadores. O consumo diário de proteína relatado foi superior ao recomendado para os homens (media ± DP) e inferior ao recomendado para as mulheres (media ± DP). Além disso, a ingestão alimentar logo após o exercício não estava adequada para a maioria dos nadadores. Conclusão: A inadequação observada entre os atletas em relação à energia e macronutrientes pode comprometer muitos fatores, dentre eles destacam-se o estado nutricional, o risco de lesões e o desempenho. Uma intervenção nutricional para adequar a ingestão conforme as recomendações pode ser benéfica à esses atletas. ...
