The braked rolling of magnets on an inclined plan : an interesting application of the Faraday-Lenz law
Abstract
An interesting Faraday-Lenz law application, consisting in letting cylindrical magnets roll down on a alu- minium inclined plan is presented. Besides the electromagnetic braking of the rolling magnets, an unexpected e®ect with causes the magnet deviation from the edge of the ramp is exhibited. We show that this movement can be experimentally studied, even its accelerated phase, with a digital camera.
