Abstract

Um museu pode representar muitas coisas, inclusive a vida, se esta for a vontade de seus dirigentes. Quando isso acontece, novos paradigmas podem ser rompidos, particularmente no que tange a conservação e preservação. Tais condições se encontram no Museu do Automobilismo Brasileiro, em Passo Fundo, RS. Ali, os principais carros que já participaram de competições no Brasil, bem como os documentos pertinentes à prática desse esporte no país, perfazem uma coleção ímpar, mas, essencialmente, o repositório dos sentimentos de um grupo social, geralmente pouco compreendido. Após discorrer com exemplos sobre colecionismo e museus, é apresentado o próprio museu, suas características e acervos. Este trabalho discorre sobre o segmento social ali representado, com sua influência na própria gênese do museu, tanto na escolha do acervo e nos caminhos museográficos seguidos pela instituição, bem como nos inúmeros sentimentos e memórias que acompanham tais acervos e que são entregues à guarda do museu gaúcho. Estes foram os aspectos predominantes na escolha do tema desta monografia, posto a afinidade do autor com o assunto em questão e pela reduzida divulgação dessa instituição fora dos meios automobilísticos, mesmo sendo esta plenamente organizada e regularizada nas entidades pertinentes nacionais e internacionais, sendo o único museu do gênero no país.

A museum can represent many things, including life, if this is the will of its leaders. When this happens, new paradigms can be broken, particularly with respect to conservation and preservation. These conditions are in the Brazilian Racecar Museum in Passo Fundo, RS. There, the main cars that have participated in races in Brazil, as well as the relevant documents to the practice of this sport in the country, make up a unique collection, but essentially the repository of the feelings of a social group, usually poorly understood. After discoursing with examples about collecionism and museums, the museum itself is presented, its features and collections, this paper discusses on the social segment represented there, with its influence on the genesis of the museum, both in the choice of the collection and the paths followed by the museological institution as well as the many feelings and memories accompanying such collections and are delivered to the custody of this museum. These were the predominant aspects in choosing the theme of this monography, since the affinity of the author with the subject matter and the reduced disclosure that institution outside the auto media, even though this is fully organized and regularized in relevant national and international bodies, being the only museum of its kind in the country.
