dc.description.abstractOs vírus pertencentes ao gênero Pestivirus da família Flaviviridae, estão comumente associados a doenças de importância econômica em animais de produção. Entre os principais vírus deste gênero estão o vírus da diarreia viral bovina tipo 1 (BVDV-1) e 2 (BVDV-2), o vírus da peste suína clássica (CSFV) e o vírus da doença da fronteira (BDV). Embora estes agentes tenham sido nomeados com base na espécie animal na qual o agente foi detectado inicialmente, os pestivírus não são espécie-específicos e podem infectar uma grande gama de hospedeiros selvagens, principalmente ruminantes silvestres e javalis. Frequentemente, trabalhos utilizando amostras de animais silvestres tem detectado contato e o próprio agente em animais silvestres de vida livre e de cativeiro. Outro fator importante relatado nos estudos é a relação existente entre animais silvestres infectados em contato com animais domésticos, sugerindo que a transmissão interespécies é possível.pt_BR
dc.description.abstractViruses belonging to the genus Pestivirus of the family Flaviviridae are commonly associated with diseases of economic importance in animal production. Among the major viruses of this genus are the bovine viral diarrhea virus type 1 (BVDV-1) and 2 (BVDV-2), classical swine fever virus (CSFV) and border disease virus (BDV). Although these agents have been appointed on the basis of the animal species in which the agent was initially detected, the pestiviruses are not species-specific and can infect a wide range of wild hosts, especially ruminants and wild boars. Commonly, studies using samples of wild animals detected contact and the agent itself in free-living wild animals and captive. Another important factor in the studies is the relationship between wild animals in contact with infected domestic animals, suggesting that interspecies transmission is possible.en
