Avaliação da consistência da indexação da Biblioteca de Psicologia da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

Apresenta uma análise da indexação no campo de assunto realizada pela Biblioteca do Instituto de Psicologia da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Teve como objetivo verificar a consistência da indexação realizada pelas bibliotecárias. A metodologia utilizada foi de uma pesquisa quanti-qualitativa. Os termos que compõem o Corpus de Pesquisa foram definidos com a criação de um Corpus Textual de teses e dissertações catalogadas nos últimos cinco anos pela biblioteca e disponíveis para downloads. Como apoio para a coleta de termos foi usado um Corpus de Referência formado por instrumentos que a biblioteca utiliza para a realização da indexação. Após a definição dos termos foi realizada a busca no catálogo da biblioteca para encontrar inconsistências que possam estar ocorrendo. As inconsistências encontradas nas análises foram: termos não encontrados em nenhum instrumento de indexação utilizado pela biblioteca; termos que não condizem com assunto do livro; utilização de variáveis em prol de termos autorizados e utilização de plural/singular não padronizada.

Performs the analysis of the subject field indexing performed by the Library of the Institute of Psychology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. The objective is to verify the consistency of the indexing performed by librarians by using a quantitative and qualitative research. The terms comprising the Research Corpus were defined by the creation of a Textual Corpus of thesis and dissertations cataloged in the past five years by the library and available for downloads. As support for the collection of terms, it was used a Reference Corpus consisted by instruments that the library uses to perform the indexing. After the terms definition the search was conducted in the library catalog to find inconsistencies that may be occuring. The following inconsistencies were found by the analysis: terms not found in any indexing tool by the library; terms that do not match the subject of the book; the using of variables in favor of authorized terms and the nonstandard using of plural/singular.
