This research presents concepts related to scientific communication, definitions regarding scientific dissemination, its models, flows, as well as the implications of the development of the social web as an informational exchange environment. Considering that research practices also happen on the social web, it is understood the need to understand the evaluation of indicators generated from the interaction with the scientific production spread on the network. This research is defined as descriptive, because it seeks to characterize the online presence of the main Brazilian researchers in the field of EMI based on the description of numerical variables. This is a mixed approach study, applying static methods for descriptive analysis. Relationships are also established between the indicators provided by the platforms with the author-level metrics. The research investigates the online presence of 102 Brazilian researchers linked to the EMI area in 8 social platforms (Google Scholar Citations, ResearchGate, Academia.edu, ResearcherID, Scopus Author Profile, Twitter, Altmetric.com and Impactstory), where 31 indicators that describe the different dimensions of a researcher's activities: publication, citation, use, evaluation, dissemination and social connectivity. Using the Spearman Correlation Coefficient, it was possible to analyze which indicators presented correlations. The entire research route described here aimed to analyze the possible correlations between indicators located in metrics at the author level. It is concluded that Brazilian EMI researchers have a high degree of online presence, especially in ResearchGate, Scopus Author Profile and Impactstory. The use of these indicators can be done in a complementary way to the individual evaluation of researchers. The strongest or most significant correlations found were between the publication indicators of the Google Scholar Citations and ResearchGate platforms. The other indicators showed weak or insignificant correlations.en
