Memória e virtualização: um estudo sobre os conceitos de memória em ambientes virtuais na Ciência da Informação brasileira

Abstract

Este trabalho objetiva compreender como é estudada a temática da virtualização da memória na Ciência da Informação brasileira, considerando os novos recursos de comunicação e de informação que transformaram as formas de acesso dos registros das informações e as práticas informacionais e memorialísticas. Originado de reflexões acerca da utilização de termos e conceitos distintos atribuídos à memória em ambientes virtuais e digitais, observa que a memória vem sendo reconfigurada por novas práticas socioculturais que a sociedade desenvolve em seus processos comunicativos, em um fluxo informacional incessante que desterritorializa e ressignifica a memória. Fundamenta-se em conceitos basilares que envolvem virtualização da memória na Ciência da Informação: virtualidade, digitalidade, ambientes virtuais, memória em rede, ciberespaço, etc. Metodologicamente, trata-se de um estudo qualitativo e bibliográfico na Base de Dados Referenciais de Artigos de Periódicos em Ciência da Informação. Identifica e mapeia os autores e os termos, expressões e definições utilizados por eles ao se referirem à memória em ambientes virtuais e digitais. Analisa a relação entre os termos e os conceitos, de modo a evidenciar como os autores da área se apropriam desses conceitos em seus distintos contextos de estudo. Conclui que, dentre os termos utilizados, destacam-se memória digital, patrimônio digital e memória virtual, e que, mesmo apresentando incongruências conceituais, as discussões pairam em torno dos desafios atuais de se preservar as memórias digitais e virtuais, frente às problemáticas oriundas da preservação digital.

This work aims to understand how the theme of memory virtualization in the Brazilian Information Science is studied, considering the new communication and information resources that transformed the access ways of the information records and the informational and memorialistic practices. Based on reflections on the use of different terms and concepts attributed to memory in virtual and digital environments, it observes that memory has been reconfigured by new sociocultural practices that society develops in its communicative processes, in an incessant information flow that deterritorializes and resignify the memory. It is based on basic concepts that involve virtualization of memory in the Information Science: virtuality, digitality, virtual environments, network memory, cyberspace, etc. Methodologically, this is a qualitative and bibliographic study in the Reference Database of Periodicals Articles in Information Science. It identifies and maps the authors and the terms, expressions and definitions used by them when referring to memory in virtual and digital environments. It analyzes the relationship between terms and concepts, in order to show how the authors of the area appropriate these concepts in their different contexts of study. It concludes that, among the terms used, digital memory, digital heritage and virtual memory stand out, and that, even presenting conceptual incongruities, the discussions revolve around the current challenges of preserving digital and virtual memories, in the face of problems arising from the preservation digital issues.
