Fatores que contribuem para a decisão sobre a permanência dos jovens no meio rural em municípios da região noroeste / celeiro do Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

A agricultura familiar tem uma grande importância na economia do Brasil. Mesmo com essa importância e com as potencialidades, constata-se o crescente desinteresse dos jovens em permanecer no campo. Esse desinteresse pode ser causador de vários problemas, como o abandono de propriedades, menor diversificação de atividades, diminuição da população rural, masculinização (pela maior permanência de rapazes em relação às moças) e envelhecimento do campo. Nesse contexto, a presente pesquisa buscou analisar as perspectivas que os jovens possuem em relação ao meio rural e entender os possíveis motivos da sua escolha pela permanência ou não nas propriedades para a sucessão familiar. Foram analisados 533 jovens estudantes do ensino médio em cinco municípios das regiões Noroeste / Celeiro do Rio Grande do Sul. A pesquisa feita através de questionários e com análise quantitativa (estatística descritiva) mostram resultados que apontam para uma tendência dos jovens, sobretudo das moças, em planejar seu futuro profissional no meio urbano. Os fatores que eram decisivos nas décadas passadas atualmente já foram superados. Os jovens do campo muito mais conectados e com acesso ao estudo hoje são influenciados pelos pais na tomada de decisão da permanência ou não no meio rural. A participação dos mesmos nas decisões da propriedades ainda parece ser limitada, principalmente no fato do conhecimento sobre o patrimônio das propriedades. A intenção de permanência no campo varia conforme os municípios, com diferenças muito significativas.

Family farming is of great importance in the Brazilian economy. Even with this importance and potential, there is a growing lack of interest among young people in staying in the countryside. This lack of interest can be responsible for several problems, such as the abandonment of properties, less diversification of activities, decrease of the rural population, masculinization (due to the greater permanence of young men in relation to young women) and aging of the field. In this context, the present research sought to analyze the perspectives that the young people have in relation to the rural environment and to understand the possible reasons of their choice for the permanence or not in the properties for the family succession. 533 young high school students were analyzed in five municipalities in the Northwest / Celeiro regions of Rio Grande do Sul. The research done through questionnaires and with quantitative analysis (descriptive statistics) show results that point to a tendency of young people, especially girls, in planning their professional future in the urban environment. The factors that were decisive in the past decades have already been overcome. The young people of the field who are much more connected and have access to the study today are influenced by the parents in the decision making of the stay or not in the rural environment. Their participation in the decisions of the properties still seems to be limited, mainly in the fact of the knowledge about the patrimony of the properties. The intention of permanence in the field varies according to the municipalities, with very significant differences.
