Ensino-aprendizagem em Gerontologia e Odontogeriatria na Faculdade de Odontologia da UFRGS

Abstract

A mudança de paradigma no ensino em Odontologia vem acontecendo no Brasil e no mundo. Nas instituições de ensino superior brasileiras, a transformação vem ocorrendo principalmente a partir da implantação das Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais para os cursos da área da saúde e da maior inserção do Cirurgião-Dentista no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Em sintonia a esses avanços e ao acelerado crescimento da população idosa, a Faculdade de Odontologia da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (FO-UFRGS) transformou a disciplina de Odontogeriatria em Estágio Supervisionado em Odontogeriatria. O estágio acontece fora dos da unidade de ensino e está, predominantemente, articulado com campos de atuação no Sistema Único de Saúde. A dinâmica de ensino-aprendizagem em odontogeriatria na FO-UFRGS é diferente entre os cursos de Odontologia diurno e o noturno. Enquanto no curso diurno os alunos acompanham e atendem idosos em uma Instituição de Longa Permanência ou em uma Unidade de Saúde da Família, inseridos à equipe multidisciplinar, no turno noturno os alunos realizam visitas domiciliares a idosos, a fim de compreender a singularidade do sujeito, estabelecer vínculo e construir com a equipe e com o idoso, um Projeto Terapêutico Singular. Contudo, ambos estágios promovem a vivência extra-muros dos alunos com pessoas idosas e assim proporcionam a aproximação do ensino à realidade da população idosa brasileira. Portanto, o objetivo deste trabalho é a construção de dois artigos que tratam do ensino-aprendizagem de Odontogeriatria e Gerontologia na FO-UFRGS, de forma a refletir e discutir como os estágios nessa temática foram construídos e como acontecem.

The paradigm shift in Dentistry education has been happening in Brazil and in the world. In the Brazilian higher education institutions, the transformation occurs mainly from the implantation of the National Curricular Guidelines for the courses of the health area and also from the greater insertion of the dentist in the Unified Health System (SUS). In line with these advances and with the accelerated growth of the elderly population, the Faculty of Dentistry of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (FO-UFRGS) became the Geriatric Dentistry discipline to the Supervised Internship in Geriatric Dentistry. The internship happens outside the teaching unit and is predominantly articulated with fields of working of the Unified Health System. The teaching-learning dynamic in geriatric dentistry at FO-UFRGS is different between the day shift and night shift dentistry courses. While in the day shift course the students perform dental care and keep up with the elderly residents in a Long Term Care Facility or in a Family Health Unit, inserted in the multidisciplinary health team, the night shift course students perform visits to the elderly in their homes, in order to understand the individual singularity, to establish a bond with him or her and to build, in a health team and with the elderly, an Singular-Therapeutic Project. However, both internship promote to the students an extra-mural experience with older people and, therefore, try to bring the education closer to the realities of the Brazilian elderly population. Therefore, the objective of this graduation work is the construction of two articles that deal with the teaching and learning of Odontogeriatry and Gerontology at FO-UFRGS, in order to reflect and discuss how the stages in this theme were constructed and how they happen nowadays.
