Sialolithiasis is an obstruction of the salivary glands caused by the presence of calculus inside the duct or the parenchyma itself, being characterized by symptoms such as swelling, pain and absence of salivation of the affected gland, which depend on the size of the calculus and are usually associated with the act to feed. Among the methods of diagnosis are minute clinical examination with palpation and the use of imaging tests. The incidence of sialolithiasis is greater in the submandibular glands, although it also occurs in the sublingual, parotid and even minor salivary glands. The treatment of sialolithiasis is variable, some with spontaneous elimination, others with biostimulation and the use of anti-inflammatories or even requiring surgical treatment for its excision. The aim of the present study is to perform a brief review of the literature on pathology and report a clinical case of sialolithiasis of the submandibular gland. It is known that the treatment is variable according to the size and location of the calculation, but in this case, it was chosen for its surgical removal.en
