Era uma vez a Fazenda do Boqueirão: memória, território e imaginário em torno da Fazenda do Boqueirão, Lomba do Pinheiro, Porto Alegre, RS

Abstract

Este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de analisar a relação estabelecida entre os moradores do bairro Lomba do Pinheiro e as ruínas de uma antiga fazenda do século XVIII conhecida popularmente na região como Fazenda Boqueirão, no Bairro Lomba do Pinheiro, Porto Alegre, a fim de estabelecer relações entre memória, imaginário e território. Com fundamentação teórica nos estudos sobre imaginário, memória e território, a investigação foi realizada sob a forma de uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa, de cunho etnográfico, e utilizada a metodologia da história oral. Os dados foram coletados através de entrevistas com pessoas apontadas pela comunidade como referências sociais, para colher suas narrativas em torno de suas histórias e experiências de vida, fossem elas coletivas, individuais, culturais ou sociais, na intenção de identificar os fatores representativos que atribuem diferentes significados ao local e compreender se essas representatividades auxiliam ou não a preservação do espaço, bem como da produção textual e gráfica (desenhos) produzidos por alunos das escolas locais, uma vez que o mesmo é recorrente entre as novas gerações. Conclui que, ao se pensar a história da Fazenda e as memórias que se constituíram a partir da convivência desses moradores com o espaço, novos sentidos foram estabelecidos, os quais permitem que se reflita sobre o poder que a imaterialidade exerce na preservação do bem material, baseada na ideia de que os valores intangíveis conferem um significado mais rico e completo ao patrimônio como um todo.

This research was carried out with the objective of analyzing the relationship established between the residents of the Lomba do Pinheiro neighborhood in Porto Alegre and the ruins of an 18th century farm popularly known in the region as Fazenda Boqueirão in order to establish relations between memory, imaginary and territory. The research was carried out using the qualitative methodological approach, of ethnographic character, and used the methodology of oral history with theoretical basis in the studies about imaginary, memory and territory. The data were collected through interviews with people pointed out by the community as social references, to collect their narratives around their histories and life experiences, whether collective, individual, cultural or social, with the intention of identifying the representative factors that attribute different meanings to the farm and to understand if these representations do or don’t help the preservation of the site, as well as of the textual and graphic production (drawings) produced by students of the local schools, since it is recurrent among the new generations. This article concludes that when one considers the history of the farm and the memories that were formed from the coexistence of these dwellers with the space, new meanings were established, which allow one to reflect on the power that immateriality exerts in the preservation of the material good, based on the idea that intangible values give richer and fuller meaning to a heritage site.
