A literatura mostra que aproximadamente 5% das pessoas possuem dentes retidos, excetuando-se os terceiros molares. Esta incidência está relacionada com fatores locais e sistêmicos que, através de mecanismos biológicos, impedem ou alteram o processo de erupção. Esta incidência está relacionada com fatores locais e sistêmicos que, através de mecanismos biológicos, impedem ou alteram o processo de erupção. O estudo aqui apresentado traz uma revisão de literatura sobre a utilização dos exames de imagem no diagnóstico, planejamento e acompanhamento de pacientes com retenção dental e esfoliação tardia. Descreve ainda, o relato de caso clínico de uma paciente adulta, não sindrômica, diagnosticada com cinco dentes decíduos e seis permanentes retidos. Abstract
Literature shows us that approximately 5% of all people have impacted teeth, except for the third molars. This incidence is related with local and systemic factors, caused by biological mechanisms preclude or change eruption process. This study brings us as a literature review for the use of pictures on the diagnosis, planning and tracking of patients with dental retaining and late exfoliation.
