Este estudo teve por objetivo relatar a gravidade do aumento do número de vítimas do trânsito no país, no estado e mais precisamente na cidade de Uruguaiana-RS, apresentando os dados de morbimortalidade dessas vítimas, no intuito de subsidiar novas discussões e ações de planejamento em políticas públicas para conter ou ao menos amenizar as consequências sofridas pelas vítimas de acidentes de trânsito. Este estudo teve por objetivo relatar a gravidade do aumento do número de vítimas do trânsito no país, no estado e mais precisamente na cidade de Uruguaiana-RS, apresentando os dados de morbimortalidade dessas vítimas, no intuito de subsidiar novas discussões e ações de planejamento em políticas públicas para conter ou ao menos amenizar as consequências sofridas pelas vítimas de acidentes de trânsito. A pesquisa consultou fontes bibliográficas e sites especializados no tema trânsito e em sites do Ministério da Saúde, buscando coletar dados secundários e extrair informações quanto à idade, sexo, tipo de condução, morbimortalidade, entre outras, além de expor a situação do atendimento médico - hospitalar na cidade de Uruguaiana para com essas vítimas. Conclui-se que há uma grande demanda de pacientes jovens vítimas de acidentes que envolvem, principalmente, os motociclistas. A cidade de Uruguaiana apresenta o segundo maior índice de morbidade no Estado em decorrência de acidentes de transporte, onerando ainda mais o Sistema de Saúde Público. Medidas preventivas precisam ser adotadas para conscientizar a população a fim de reduzir o número de vítimas de acidentes de trânsito no País e no Mundo. ...
