Neste trabalho de conclusão de curso serão analisados os relatos acerca da destruição do Serapeum de Alexandria (391 d. C.) nas obras de quatro historiadores. São eles: Rufino de Aquileia, Sócrates de Constantinopla, Teodoreto de Ciro e Sozomeno. Tais autores escreveram a partir de um contexto de ascensão do cristianismo à condição de religião hegemônica no mundo romano, ainda que as tradições do paganismo, vigente durante a Antiguidade, continuassem a exercer influência nas sociedades romanas ...
Neste trabalho de conclusão de curso serão analisados os relatos acerca da destruição do Serapeum de Alexandria (391 d. C.) nas obras de quatro historiadores. São eles: Rufino de Aquileia, Sócrates de Constantinopla, Teodoreto de Ciro e Sozomeno. Tais autores escreveram a partir de um contexto de ascensão do cristianismo à condição de religião hegemônica no mundo romano, ainda que as tradições do paganismo, vigente durante a Antiguidade, continuassem a exercer influência nas sociedades romanas – sobretudo em Alexandria. Em vista dessas condições, pretende-se compreender como o discurso comum a esses relatos se relacionou com a consolidação do cristianismo e com sua busca por afirmação frente ao paganismo. ...
