This work aims to investigate whether the level of knowledge about capital markets reduces or not the tendency to make judgments by heuristics and biases. Were analyzed a group of 63 investors, who were divided into two categories: professionals, with more experience and who operating systematically, and those with less knowledge in capital markets. Was decided to do the research through a questionnaire with 29 questions. A group of these questions was to identify the profile of the investors regarding income, age and how long they invest. The other part was done to know the heuristics and biases that the person was exposed. The results suggest that the more an investor has technical and theoretical knowledge about capital markets, the less chances he has to make assessments using the heuristics of representativeness and availability. However, by the data presented, a high level of knowledge is not always enough to ensure an unbiased analysis. It was found that the domain of information acquired by study or experience led the group of investors with more knowledge to over-confidence in their forecasts and a flawed trial. Still, was conclude that knowledge is useful to avoid, in many cases, assessments by the heuristics of representativeness and availability, and contributes to improve the quality of decision. The less investors use heuristics to evaluate, the more opportunities they have to make choice that could lead to satisfactory results. ...
