Repercussões do diagnóstico de tuberculose na vida de mulheres na perspectiva de gênero

A tuberculose é uma doença transmissível que está diretamente ligada com o desenvolvimento histórico social. As crenças e o estigma atrasam o diagnóstico e perpetuam a sua disseminação. Mesmo com a ascensão da incidência de tuberculose na população feminina ainda há uma expressiva falta de pesquisas qualitativas que abordem as questões biopsicossociais, principalmente quando associadas com a perspectiva de gênero. Assim, o objetivo do estudo é analisar, na perspectiva de gênero, as repercussões do diagnóstico e tratamento da tuberculose na vida de mulheres, considerando o contexto familiar e social. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, do tipo exploratório-descritiva. A análise de conteúdo foi realizada segundo a proposta de Bardin (2010) com auxilio do programa NVIVO 7.0 para a organização e categorização dos dados. Foram entrevistadas 12 mulheres que estão em tratamento para tuberculose no serviço de saúde da Comissão de Controle de DST/AIDS/Hepatites virais e Tuberculose da Prefeitura municipal de São Leopoldo. Num primeiro momento, as entrevistadas referem que não há diferenças entre vivências masculinas e femininas da doença, mas as distinções entre as repercussões que a tuberculose gera em suas rotinas acabam aparecendo nos seus depoimentos. A maior parte das repercussões está associada com o relacionamento familiar, o serviço de casa e o afastamento do trabalho. As entrevistadas apontam que as características femininas facilitam o tratamento, ao contrário das características masculinas. Segundo elas, o modo de ser masculino dificulta o tratamento, em especial em função da necessidade de, ao aderir ao tratamento, abdicar de algumas atividades cotidianas, o que não é comum no comportamento dos homens. Por fim, é possível constatar que o tratamento da tuberculose impõe mudanças na vida das mulheres sem, contudo, interferir ou romper com os tradicionais papeis de gênero (ser mãe, dona de casa, cuidadora e participante do sustento da família). Isto acaba acarretando sobrecarga de responsabilidades que podem afastá-la do tratamento e ou serem prejudiciais à sua saúde, considerando outros possíveis problemas para além da tuberculose. ...
