Segundo o estudo realizado pela organização Cone (2008), a parcela de consumidores americanos que escolhe produtos com atributos ambientais em relação a outros representa 40% do mercado. No Brasil, 73,53% estão interessados em comprar produtos dessa natureza. (INSTITUTO AKATU, 2008). Essa tendência impulsiona o investimento das empresas em marketing verde. Porém, as declarações ambientais realizadas pelas organizações muitas vezes não refletem suas práticas de gestão, fenômeno conhecido como greenwashing. O objetivo do trabalho é avaliar a qualidade das declarações ambientais de produtos de limpeza no Brasil, de modo a fornecer insights sobre a ocorrência desse fenômeno no varejo do país. A metodologia utilizada foi a análise de conteúdo de rótulos de produtos de limpeza encontrados em lojas de grandes varejistas. Para a análise do greenwash, foram aplicadas metodologias internacionais de mensuração deste fenômeno. Analisou-se 528 produtos, nos quais foram identificadas 321 declarações em 191 produtos. Desses produtos, 94,76% apresentaram alguma das falhas do greenwash, o que denota a desinformação no setor de limpeza em relação ao marketing verde e à comunicação de declarações ambientais nos rótulos de seus produtos. Os resultados assemelham-se aos encontrados pela Terrachoice (2009) em mercados desenvolvidos, como Estados Unidos, Canadá e Austrália. Algumas das questões críticas encontradas na realidade brasileira foram a má utilização de certificações ambientais e a ausência de regulação relacionada ao uso do marketing verde no Brasil. ...
