A metrologia no ensino da reta real

Abstract

Este trabalho tem por objetivo trazer a Metrologia para sala de aula, motivando os alunos no estudo da reta real, melhorar a compreensão da reta real e conhecer a Metrologia como ciência e área de trabalho, através de atividades elaboradas. As práticas ocorreram em uma escola estadual, localizada na zona sul de Porto Alegre, com alunos que frequentam a 8ª Série do ensino fundamental regular, no turno da tarde, no total de três encontros, sendo que cada encontro durou dois períodos de 50 minutos. As atividades consistem em padronizar medidas, perceber as diferenças entre instrumento digital e analógico com o intuito de transferir esta diferença para a reta e, ao realizar medições, os alunos percebam a necessidade de aproximar medidas usando o erro, além da construção da reta. Além de trazer todo o desenvolvimento das atividades realizadas na escola, este trabalho traz aspectos teóricos sobre a reta real, os conceitos que envolvem a Metrologia, o desenvolvimento histórico em busca da padronização do metro e a história da Metrologia no Brasil.

The aim of this work is to devise activities that bring the concept of Metrology into the classroom. Our main objectives include motivating students to study the real line and presenting Metrology as a science and as a field of work. The students are eight-graders in a school ran by the state government in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Our activities consisted of three meetings, each lasting two regular 50-minute time-slots. They were designed to address the following subjects: (1) the need of universally-accepted units to measure quantities; (2) the difference between analogical and digital measurements, and its connection with error estimates; (3) the construction of the real line based on successive approximations of real segments. This work contains a full report about these activities. Moreover, it includes theoretical aspects about the construction of the real line, a description of Metrology and of the many concepts associated with it, and a short survey of its development as a science in the world and in Brazil.
