"Nunca pensei muito em como morreria" : crepúsculo e lua nova sob o olhar neurodivergente

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar as características de formação da identidade da personagem Bella Swan nos livros Crepúsculo (2009) e Lua Nova (2009), a partir da minha perspectiva enquanto leitora neurodivergente. Baseio a análise literária em correntes da psicologia, como Psicologia Cognitiva e Psicologia Social, pois trazem a subjetividade do indivíduo, tanto autor quanto leitor, como um dos fatores centrais para a análise artística. Levo em consideração, principalmente, aspectos da minha própria construção de personalidade neurodivergente, mas também da perspectiva religiosa da autora, Stephenie Meyer. Após a análise, conclui-se que a construção da personagem é suficiente para produzir a identificação no leitor neuroatípico, mas não é construída de forma intencional ou cuidadosa o suficiente, o que abre caminhos para reproduções de ideias perigosas sobre saúde mental. Sendo assim, mesmo que Bella tenha me proporcionado um maior entendimento sobre mim mesma na infância e adolescência, não é possível considerá-la uma representação totalmente positiva para a comunidade neuroatípica.

This work aims to analyze the characteristics of the identity formation of the character Bella Swan in the books Twilight (2009) and New Moon (2009), from my perspective as a neurodivergent reader. I base literary analysis on psychological approaches, such as Cognitive Psychology and Social Psychology, as it brings the subjectivity of the individual, both author and reader, as one of the central factors for artistic analysis. I take into account, mainly, aspects of my own construction of a neurodivergent personality, but also the religious perspective of the author, Stephenie Meyer. After analysis, it is concluded that the construction of the character is sufficient to produce identification in the neuroatypical reader, but it is not constructed intentionally or carefully enough, which opens the way for reproductions of dangerous ideas about mental health. Therefore, even though Bella provided me with a greater understanding of myself in childhood and adolescence, it is not possible to consider it a completely positive representation for the neuroatypical community.
