Robert Musil e a nova estética para a (pós)modernidade

Abstract

Abordaremos nesse ensaio os inícios da reflexão sobre os rumos da estéticado século XX. Colocamos a obra musiliana das primeiras décadas (1910-30) na perspectiva do seu ensaísmo que traça os objetivos da ficção experimental (peças como Os Entusiastas), a qual representa uma resposta crítica ao teatro convencional da época. A desmistificação do cunho comercial e conservador do teatro nas resenhas musilianas dos anos 1920 tem fortes elos com a critica cultural e a reflexão sobre as condições sociais e políticas da República que emergiu depois da queda do Império.

We will address in this essay Musil's reflection on contemporary aestheticsand theatre. We place the musilian essays and the theatre reviews he wroteduring the first decades (1910-30) in the context of his essayism which ou-tlines the goals of his experimental fiction. The plays (like The Enthusiasts), which Musil wrote during and after the war represent a critical response tothe conventional theater of the time. The demystification of the commercialand conservative nature of theater in Musil's reviews of the 1920s has stronglinks to cultural criticism and reflection on the social and political conditi-ons of the Republic that emerged after the fall of the Empire.
