Abordagens técnicas para a performance alternada do traverso e da flauta moderna a partir de depoimentos de flautistas

Abstract

A pesquisa teve como objetivo identificar as abordagens técnicas para a performance alternada do traverso e da flauta de sistema Boehm a partir dos depoimentos de três flautistas. Apesar de serem instrumentos similares e apresentarem origens em comum, o traverso e a flauta moderna (flauta de sistema Boehm), apresentam diferenças organológicas significativas, o que pode ocasionar abordagens técnicas similares ou distintas a depender do tópico técnico analisado. Como objetivos específicos, definiu-se investigar os tópicos: postura, respiração, embocadura, sonoridade, digitação, afinação, articulação e dinâmica. Os referenciais teóricos desta pesquisa, centraram-se nos trabalhos de HOTTETERRE, QUANTZ, BOLAND, BROWN, DEBOST, POWELL e TOFF. Esta pesquisa teve uma abordagem qualitativa de caráter exploratório, na qual os participantes registraram em vídeos suas execuções de um trecho da Fantasia n.º 7 de G.Ph.Telemann no traverso e na flauta moderna alternadamente. Após realizarem os registros, os participantes concederam uma entrevista, com o propósito de averiguar suas abordagens técnicas em relação aos tópicos elencados. Como resultado, foi possível identificar similaridades e diferenças nas abordagens técnicas durante a performance alternada entre o traverso e a flauta moderna. As principais diferenças, segundo os flautistas, estão relacionadas ao sistema mecânico, as variações nas proporções dos orifícios dos bocais, os formatos dos tubos e na gama de dinâmicas entre os instrumentos. As similaridades, segundo os participantes, estão principalmente associadas às abordagens técnicas básicas, sendo elas: postura, embocadura, respiração, sonoridade, afinação e articulação. Como conclusão, a pesquisa enfatiza a contribuição que a prática alternada do traverso e da flauta moderna pode trazer no aprimoramento das abordagens técnicas dos flautistas e nas práticas interpretativas do repertório musical.

The aim of this research was to identify the technical approaches to the alternating performance of the baroque flute and the Boehm system flute based on the testimonies of three flutists. Despite being similar instruments and having common origins, the baroque flute and the modern flute (Boehm system flute) have significant organological differences, which can lead to similar or different technical approaches depending on the technical topic analyzed. The specific objectives were to investigate the following topics: posture, breathing, embouchure, sonority, fingering, tuning, articulation and dynamics. The theoretical references for this research were centered on the works of HOTTETERRE, QUANTZ, BOLAND, BROWN, DEBOST, POWELL and TOFF. This research took a qualitative, exploratory approach, in which the participants recorded their performances of an excerpt from Fantasia No. 7 by G.Ph.Telemann on the baroque flute and modern flute alternately. After making the recordings, the participants gave an interview in order to ascertain their technical approaches to the topics listed. As a result, it was possible to identify similarities and differences in technical approaches during the alternating performance between the baroque flute and the modern flute. The main differences, according to the flutists, are related to the mechanical system, the variations in the proportions of the holes in the mouthpieces, the shapes of the tubes and the range of dynamics between the instruments. The similarities, according to the participants, are mainly associated with the basic technical approaches: posture, embouchure, breathing, sonority, tuning, and articulation. In conclusion, the research emphasizes the contribution that the alternating practice of the baroque flute and the modern flute can make to improving flutists' technical approaches and interpretative practices of the musical repertoire.
