A contribuição de Marcos Kaplan ao debate marxista sobre o estado na América Latina

Abstract

Nas décadas de 1970 e 1980, em meio à disseminação das ditaduras e ao aprofundamento da dependência externa nas formações sociais da região, tiveram lugar profícuas contribuições ao debate marxista sobre o Estado das referidas sociedades. Intelectuais como Agustín Cueva, Norbert Lechner, René Zavaleta e Marcos Kaplan reivindicaram o estudo do Estado capitalista na América Latina como objeto de reflexão. Neste trabalho, por meio de uma análise bibliográfica, buscamos resgatar as principais contribuições, ao debate em questão, do referido autor Marcos Kaplan, em particular. A partir de um diálogo com a produção intelectual do autor mais representativa dentro do recorte temático proposto, inicialmente discutimos a abordagem histórico-estrutural defendida pelo autor para o estudo crítico do Estado periférico e dependente na América Latina. Posteriormente, recuperamos os traços mais marcantes da periodização da trajetória da instituição estatal na América Latina formulada por Kaplan.

In the 1970s and 1980s, amid the spread of dictatorships and the deepening of external dependency in Latin America, there were fruitful contributions to the Marxist debate on the State in Latin American societies. Intellectuals such as Agustín Cueva, Norbert Lechner, René Zavaleta and Marcos Kaplan reclaimed the study of the capitalist State in Latin America as an object of reflection. In this paper, based on a bibliographical analysis, we seek to retrieve the main contributions to the debate on State by the aforementioned author Marcos Kaplan. Developing a dialog with the author's most representative intellectual production within the proposed thematic area, we initially discuss the author’s historical-structural approach to the critical study of the peripheral and dependent State in Latin America. Subsequently, we discuss the most striking features of Kaplan’s periodization of the trajectory of the State in Latin America.
