Análise da percepção em relação ao convívio com répteis como pets não convencionais

Abstract

Este estudo investigou a posse de répteis como animais de estimação no Brasil, analisando atitudes, comportamentos e o nível de conhecimento sobre a posse legal e responsável desses animais. A pesquisa identificou um crescente interesse pela aquisição de répteis, especialmente por motivos estéticos e emocionais, mas também revelou uma significativa lacuna de informações sobre a origem legal dos animais e os cuidados necessários para sua manutenção. Muitos participantes não conheciam criadouros regulamentados, o que pode levar à compra de animais provenientes de fontes ilegais, representando riscos à saúde dos animais e ao meio ambiente. Os resultados indicam que a maior parte dos interessados carece de informações sobre os cuidados veterinários, a legalidade da posse e os impactos ambientais. A pesquisa sugere que campanhas educativas são fundamentais para esclarecer sobre a aquisição de répteis de fontes legalizadas, os cuidados específicos necessários e as responsabilidades legais e ambientais envolvidas na posse desses animais. A conscientização sobre os impactos da posse de animais silvestres é crucial para evitar o comércio ilegal e promover a preservação das espécies. As conclusões destacam a importância de informar adequadamente a sociedade sobre as condições ideais para a criação de répteis e os riscos associados ao desrespeito às normativas legais. O estudo contribui para o debate sobre a posse responsável de animais exóticos, oferecendo insights para políticas públicas e práticas de conservação, além de ressaltar a necessidade de promover uma convivência harmônica entre seres humanos e a biodiversidade.

This study investigated the ownership of reptiles as pets in Brazil, analyzing attitudes, behaviors, and the level of knowledge regarding the legal and responsible ownership of these animals. The research identified a growing interest in acquiring reptiles, especially for aesthetic and emotional reasons, but also revealed a significant gap in information about the legal source of the animals and the necessary care for their maintenance. Many participants were unaware of regulated breeders, which could lead to purchasing animals from illegal sources, posing risks to the health of the animals and the environment. The results indicate that most individuals interested in owning reptiles lack knowledge about veterinary care, the legality of ownership, and the environmental impacts. The research suggests that educational campaigns are essential to clarify the acquisition of reptiles from legal sources, the specific care required, and the legal and environmental responsibilities involved in owning these animals. Raising awareness about the impacts of wildlife ownership is crucial to preventing illegal trade and promoting the preservation of species. The conclusions highlight the importance of adequately informing society about the ideal conditions for keeping reptiles and the risks associated with disregarding legal regulations. The study contributes to the debate on responsible exotic pet ownership, providing insights for public policies and conservation practices, and emphasizing the need to promote a harmonious coexistence between humans and biodiversity.
