O Turnerbund e suas conexões com escolas em Porto Alegre/RS(1870-1920)

Abstract

O objetivo do estudo é elucidar as relações estabelecidas entre Turnerbund com ins-tituições escolares situadas em Porto Alegre, capital do Rio Grande do Sul, no perí-odo de 1870 a 1920. O marco temporal abarca o período de emergência dos clubes de ginástica e a progressiva expansão de escolas criadas e mantidas por imigrantes alemães e seus descendentes, até a década de 1920, contexto pós adversidades de-sencadeadas pela I Guerra Mundial. Além da revisão bibliográfica, reuniu-se um conjunto de documentos históricos, composto por fontes impressas. A utilização de tais materiais de pesquisa foi feita seguindo os passos de catalogação, análise e cotejamento das informações. O processo de construção da narrativa historiográ-fica foi orientado pelo referencial teórico-metodológico operado por historiadores culturais, bem como pelo aporte teórico produzido pelo sociólogo Norbert Elias, a partir dos seus conceitos de figuração e redes de interdependência. A pesquisa almeja avançar na apreensão da complexidade do fenômeno do associativismo es-portivo, no Rio Grande do Sul, temática investigada há, pelo menos, 20 anos, cujos desdobramentos distinguem sua singular importância para a constituição do cam-po da Educação Física e do Esporte Sul-Rio-Grandense.

The study aims to elucidate the relationships between Turnerbund and school institutions in Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, between 1870 and 1920. The time frame covers the period of the emergence of gymnastics clubs and the progressive expansion of schools cre-ated and maintained by German immigrants and their descendants until the 1920s, in the aftermath of the adversities unleashed by the First World War. In addition to the bibliogra-phical review, a set of historical documents comprising printed sources was gathered. These research materials were analyzed by cataloging, analyzing, and comparing the information. The process of constructing the historiographical narrative was guided by the theoretical--methodological framework operated by cultural historians and the theoretical contribution produced by sociologist Norbert Elias, based on his concepts of figuration and networks of in-terdependence. The research aims to advance the understanding of the complexity of the phe-nomenon of sports associations in Rio Grande do Sul, a subject that has been investigated for at least 20 years and whose developments distinguish its singular importance for the consti-tution of the field of Physical Education and Sport in Rio Grande do Sul.
