O Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), ou Sistema de Navegação Global via Satélite em português, desempenha um papel crucial na operação de aeronaves ao fornecer estimativas de geolocalização. Entretanto, existem situações em que o sinal do mesmo não está disponível e, nesses casos, outros métodos de localização podem ser utilizados para suprir essa falta, como aqueles que utilizam a correspondência de elevações da área sobrevoada com uma base de dados georreferenciada para estimativa da posição. Dessa forma, visando contornar a ausência do sinal de GNSS, um algoritmo de correspondência de terrenos utilizando o Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF (ORB), ou FAST Orientado e BRIEF Rotacionado em português, um detector e descritor de pontos de interesse, foi construído, buscando aproveitar da robustez a mudanças de escala e de orientação do algoritmo, além de seu baixo tempo de processamento. Devido ao fato do desenvolvimento e da verificação serem feitas em ambiente simulado, um processo de distorção de dados de elevação foi criado, adicionando imperfeições relacionadas a um cenário de voo de uma aeronave sem GNSS, de forma a aumentar a representatividade da simulação Devido ao grande número de parâmetros envolvidos no funcionamento do algoritmo de correspondência de terrenos desenvolvido, um otimizador foi utilizado para a escolha dos valores dessas variáveis, visando maximizar seu desempenho para cada cenário ao qual o mesmo foi submetido. O algoritmo desenvolvido conseguiu, de forma consistente, encontrar correspondências de terrenos, entre a região observada pela aeronave e os dados de elevação da base de dados, em diversos tipos de relevo. Entretanto, devido as características utilizadas pelo algoritmo para fazer as correspondências, seu desempenho cai de forma significativa em regiões mais planas, onde as correspondências bem-sucedidas são mais raras. Nesses cenários, correspondências bem-sucedidas ainda conseguem ser obtidas em aproximadamente metade dos cenários testados, mesmo com diversas distorções nos dados de elevação que dificultam as estimativas do algoritmo ...
