The response to wear of materials is influenced by the specific nature of their microconstituents and the predominance of a set of parameters interconnected to the system in which these materials are used. In order to conduct the tribological characterization of the pair of materials SAE 1045 and DIN GG20, wear tests were conducted under dry sliding conditions in a wear generating system with concaveconvex contact, analogous to that found in machine tools. Wear characteristics were then determined based on multiple factors, such as hardness, microstructure, roughness, appearance of worn surfaces, mass loss resulting from the wear process, wear coefficient and specific wear coefficient. To carry out these wear tests, a bushingpin type tribometer was used. 210 thousand wear cycles were carried out over 7 regular stops to measure mass loss and roughness. The applied load was 50N and the rotation speed was 45rpm. The tests were performed in triplicate. In general, greater wear was observed on DIN GG20 bushings in relation to SAE 1045 pins. Initially, the friction coefficient recorded was 0.25, however an increase in this value was observed depending on the distance traveled and subsequent layer removal. solid lubricant formed during bushing wear. Roughness measurements revealed a decrease, on average, of 54% in pins and 24% in bushings. After carrying out the tests, indications of the occurrence of wear mechanisms adhesion, corrosion, surface fatigue and in particular abrasion due to polishing were found, which was the dominant wear mechanism for the system adopted in both counterparts, which can also be observed by the drop on the roughness values measured during the test. ...
