A imposição da terminalidade : desdobramentos narcísicos de sujeitos em cuidados paliativos

Abstract

A morte ainda é um assunto tabu na nossa sociedade e com efeito, o processo de morrer é acompanhado por medos, dores, afastamentos e silêncios. Em contrapartida, esse período também pode ser de grandes transformações e de potência, uma vez que cada acontecimento em nossas vidas abre espaço para um processo de reorganização narcísica. A proximidade da morte anunciada pode ser um desses momentos, pois ela traz consigo a possibilidade de ocupar um novo espaço e de ver a vida por outra perspectiva, a partir de um outro tempo. Tempo esse em que o outro pode ter um papel fundamental em nossas vidas. Com base nisso, esse estudo buscou compreender, a partir do referencial psicanalítico, os desdobramentos narcísicos em pacientes acometidos por um adoecimento crônico e em cuidados paliativos. Seria esse um momento de reorganização narcísica? Para dar vida à dissertação e encontrar indícios singulares desse novo tempo e desses encontros, resgatei meus registros do diário de campo acerca da minha vivência com pacientes em cuidados paliativos, me apoiei no livro de Anna Penido e Gilberto Dimenstein Os últimos melhores dias da minha vida e procurei, na sabedoria das poesias de Rubem Alves, uma forma mais leve, mas não menos intensa, de falar sobre a morte e o morrer. A leitura flutuante desse material permitiu encontrar fragmentos discursivos de uma possível reorganização narcísica de sujeitos com adoecimento crônico diante da morte iminente. A leitura apontou também que o próprio processo de morrer pode ser um momento de ação e de vida, em que os investimentos libidinais se dão de maneira complexa e paradoxal. E, se há vida pulsando, há possibilidade de investimentos no outro. Esse outro que foi tão primordial no início da vida, pode ser ainda mais fundamental no processo de morrer. O início e o fim da vida guardam semelhanças singulares e, o que percebemos com maior veemência nesse caminho foi a potência do encontro com o outro.

Death still is a taboo subject in our society with effect, the process of dying is accompanied by fears, pains, distances and silences. On the other hand, this period can also be one of great transformations and potency, since each event in our lives makes room for a process of narcissistic reorganization. The proximity of the announced death can be one of those moments, because it brings with it the possibility of occupying a new space and of seeing life from another perspective, from another time. A time when the other can play a fundamental role in our lives. Based on this, this study sought to understand, from the psychoanalytic theory, the narcissistic developments in patients affected by a chronic illness and in palliative care. Could this be a moment of narcissistic reorganization? In order to give life to this dissertation and find unique signs of this new time and these encounters, I rescued my field diary records about my experience with patients in palliative care, I based on the book by Anna Penido and Gilberto Dimenstein Os últimos melhores dias da minha vida [The last best days of my life] and I searched, in the wisdom of Rubem Alves' poetry, for a lighter, but no less intense, way of talking about death and dying. The floating reading of this material allowed me to find discursive fragments of a possible narcissistic reorganization of subjects with chronic illness in the face of imminent death. The reading also pointed out that the dying process itself can be a moment of action and life, in which libidinal investments take place in a complex and paradoxical way. And, if there is life pulsating, there is the possibility of investing in the other. This other that was so primordial in the beginning of life, can be even more fundamental in the process of dying. The beginning and the end of life have singular similarities and what I realized, with greater vehemence on this path, was the potency of the encounter with the other.
