Documentário autobiográfico e busca performática em Elena (2012) de Petra Costa

Abstract

A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar o filme Elena (2012) da diretora Petra Costa à luz do conceito de busca performática. Para isso, inicialmente conceitua-se o cinema documentário, com uma breve contextualização histórica. Discussões acerca do real são evidenciadas e, posteriormente, o ato narrativo no cinema é posto em evidência, com foco no documentário autobiográfico, detalhando-se especificações e tipificações, como as diferentes formas de construção narrativa. Em um segundo momento, o filme em sua forma fílmica é observado como um todo, considerando sua importância e significância e refletindo sobre elementos presentes no seu desenvolvimento. Na análise evidenciamos, primeiro, a exposição da simbiose entre as irmãs, com a confusão entre as identidades e as memórias. Depois, a perda compreendida por Petra, revisitando o apartamento em que morou com a irmã e onde Elena cometeu suicídio. E, depois, observamos um reencontro de Petra consigo mesma, com seu eu interior e sua identidade em sua totalidade, não mais repartida entre ela e a irmã, mas novamente una. O caminho metodológico utilizado foi, inicialmente, uma revisão de literatura, com mapeamento de títulos, e, por fim, a análise fílmica. Ao final, o que fica evidente, é que o filme, organizado como uma elegia de Petra à irmã, procura responder como conviver com a dor da falta de alguém que já se foi, e evidencia um processo de sublimação do luto.

The present research aims to analyze the film "Elena" (2012) by director Petra Costa through the lens of the performative search concept. To achieve this, the documentary cinema is initially conceptualized, providing a brief historical contextualization. Discussions about reality are highlighted, and subsequently, the narrative act in cinema is emphasized, focusing on autobiographical documentaries, detailing specifications and typifications, such as different forms of narrative construction. In a second moment, the film in its cinematic form is observed as a whole, considering its importance and significance and reflecting on elements present in its development. The analysis first highlights the exposition of the symbiosis between the sisters, with the confusion between identities and memories. Then, Petra's understanding of loss is revisited as she returns to the apartment where she lived with her sister and where Elena committed suicide. Finally, we observe a reunion of Petra with herself, with her inner self and identity as a whole, no longer divided between her and her sister, but once again united. The methodological approach used was initially a literature review, with a mapping of relevant titles, followed by film analysis. In the end, what becomes evident is that the film, organized as an elegy by Petra to her sister, seeks to answer how to cope with the pain of losing someone who has already passed away, and highlights a process of sublimation of grief.
