| pt_BR |
dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential capability of an experimental composite resin with the addition of Myristyltrimethylammonium bromide (MYTAB) and Αlfa-Tricalcium Phosphate (α-TCP) as antibacterial and remineralizing effect. The physical, chemical, and biological properties of its incorporation on the material were also explored. The experimental composite resin (GMYTAB+a-TCP) was formulated mixing Bisphenol A-Glycidyl Methacrylate (BisGMA-75 wt%), Triethylene Glycol Dimethacry late (TEGDMA-25 wt%), and a photoinitiator system, Trimethyl benzoyldiphenylphosphine oxide (TPO). As polymerization inhibitor, butylated hydroxytoluene (BTH) was added. Silica and barium glass were added as a filler. A group without the addition of these compounds was used as a control (GCtrl). The test performed were: degree of conversion (n=3), flexural strength (n=6), microhardness and softening in solvent (n=3), mineral deposition (n=3), cytotoxicity (n=5) and antimicrobial activity (n=3). A data was analyzed by the Shapiro-Wilk test. Student´s T-Test for independent specimens was used to compare differences between groups in the degree of conversion, flexural strength, cytotoxicity, KHN1, and ∆KHN%. Difference between KHN1 and KHN2 in each group were assessed by the Students T-Test. Descriptive analysis was performed for mineral deposition result. All tests were performed at a 5% significance level. There was no difference between groups for the degree of conversion (67.08% (±7.25) for (GCtrl) and 60.41% (±1.10) for (GMYTAB+a-TCP) and flexural strength (65.60 (±2.90) MPa for GMYTAB+a-TCP and 40.61 (±2.15) Mpa for GCtrl. The experimental group (GMYTAB+a-TCP) showed a higher percentage of degradation after immersion in solvent (25.49 (±2.14) for GCtrl. and 12.17 (±3.11) % for GMYTAB+a-TCP. Lower cell viability (91.44 (±10.22)% for GCtrl and 43.33 (±4.98)% for GMYTAB+a-TCP) and a greater reduction in bacterial viability in biofilme and planktonic analysis was observed for the GMYTAB+a-TCP group. Mineral deposition increased after specimens were immersed in SBF. Incorporation of MYTAB+a-TCP into composite resin can improve their physical, chemical and biological properties and may be promising strategy to achieve therapeutic remineralization and antibacterial activity at the composite-teeth interface. | en |
