História do pensamento tradutório do século XVIII francês : múltiplas abordagens

Abstract

O presente artigo apresenta o resultado da investigação sobre a hegemoniada forma de tradução conhecida como belles infidèles (criada no século XVII) ao longo do século XVIII,na França. Para tanto, três pesquisas foram consultadas nas áreas de Historiografia da Tradução, Filosofia e Literatura, todas tratando do pensamento tradutório do período. Das três, apenas a última centrou sua análise nas belles infidèles. A pesquisa em Historiografia da Tradução considera que o século XVIII teve várias ideias sobre tradução presentes em diferentes meios, o que permite aos pesquisadores múltiplas portas de entrada ao pensamento tradutório setecentista. Já a pesquisa filosófica observa que havia uma teoria tradutória predominante no período, fundamentada nos princípios filosóficos da Gramática de Port Royal.

The present article presents the result of the investigation on the hegemony of the form of translation known as belles infidèles created in the 17th century) throughout the 18th century in France. To this end, three researches were consulted in the areas of Historiography of Translation,Philosophy and Literature, all dealing with the translational thought of the period. Of the three, only the last centered its analysis on the belles infidèles. The search in Translation Historiography considers that the eighteenth century had several ideas about translation present in different media, which allows researchers multiple gateways to eighteenth-century translation thinking. Philosophical research, on the other hand, observes that there was a predominant translation theory in the period, based on the philosophical principles of Port Royal Grammar.
