Língua inglesa, globalização e os processos de in/exclusão

Abstract

O artigo examina sentidos atribuídos à aprendizagem da Língua Inglesa (LI) na contemporaneidade. As bases teóricas advêm do pós-estruturalismo, em especial do pensamento de autores como Michel Foucault e Zygmunt Bauman. O material escrutinado consiste em redações de professores de LI interessados em ocupar uma vaga docente em uma instituição deensino no RS. Oexame do material, sustentado pela análise do discurso foucaultiana,mostroua presença de dois enunciados: “Para se adaptar ao mundo em que vivemos, saber inglês é uma obrigação”e“As pessoas que não sabem inglês estão em desvantagem em relação às que sabem”.Oestudomostra verdades presentes no discurso pedagógico associadas aos mecanismos de in/exclusão.

The article examines meanings attributed to the learning of the English Language (IL) in contemporary times. The theoretical bases come from post-structuralism, especially from the thought of authors such as Michel Foucault and Zygmunt Bauman. The scrutinized material consists of essays by LI professors interested in occupyinga teaching position at an educational institution in RS. The examination of the material, supported by the analysis of Foucault's discourse, showed the presence of two statements: “To adapt to the world we live in, knowing English is an obligation” and “People who do not know English are at a disadvantage compared to those who you know”. The study shows truths present in the pedagogical discourse associated with in/exclusion mechanisms
