A sociedade do espetáculo e as fake news: provocações e implicações perante o direito à informação

Abstract

O presente artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre o conceito de sociedade do espetáculo, de Guy Debord, perante a disseminação de fake news, a fim de identificar as mazelas que esse fenômeno causa ao Direito à Informação. A edição e manipulação de imagens as transforma e midiatiza como representação invertida da realidade social, tornando a sociedade uma espectadora de si, que contempla o mundo idealizado pelas mídias. O indivíduo, por meio das mídias sociais, promove a disseminação de informações falsas, representando um contexto social espetacular. Assim, questiona-se: como o Direito à Informação pode auxiliar nas reflexões sobre fake news e desinformação? Este estudo realiza uma revisão de literatura focada nas características da desinformação, das fake news e da sociedade do espetáculo. Compreende-se que a sociedade do espetáculo torna-se retroalimentadora da própria “realidade falsa”, induzida a tal ato pelas corporações midiáticas, que detêm o poder informacional de relevância social, sedentas, ainda, por centralizar e limitar o acesso às informações, bem como em obter o lucro pelos conteúdos produzidos e disseminados. Como há dificuldades em distinguir as fake news de outros conceitos, os quais invadem a categoria das notícias falsas, a sociedade, incapaz de afastar-se da ilusão promovida pela efervescente circulação de imagens e discursos, tanto imprecisos como enganosos, pode encontrar no Direito à Informação o auxílio para diminuir os impactos negativos da desinformação.

This article aims to reflect on Guy Debord's concept of society of the spectacle, in the faceof the dissemination of fake news, in order to identify the harm that this phenomenon causes tothe Right to Information. The editing and manipulation of images transforms and mediatizesthem as an inverted representation of social reality, making society a spectator of itself, contemplating the world idealized by the media. The individual, through social media, promotesthe dissemination of false information, representing a spectacular social context. Thus, thequestion is: how can the Right to Information help in reflections on fake news andmisinformation? This study conducts a literature review focused on the characteristics of misinformation, fake news and the society of the spectacle. It is understood that the society of the spectacle becomes a feedback from the "false reality" itself, induced to such an act by themedia corporations, which hold the informational power of social relevance, thirstingfor centralizing and limiting access to information, as well. as in making a profit for the content produced and disseminated. As there are difficulties in distinguishing fake news fromother concepts, which invade the category of fake news, society, unable to move away from the illusion promoted by the effervescent circulation of images and speeches, both imprecise andmisleading, can find in the Right to Information helps to reduce the negative impacts of misinformation.
