Literatura brasileira na União Soviética : políticas editoriais e traduções

Abstract

Na era da globalização, cada vez mais as pessoas entram em contato com culturas e povos antes praticamente inacessíveis, seja pela barreira linguística ou simplesmente pela distância geográfica. Isso vale para as trocas culturais entre Brasil e Rússia, cujas relações, até o século passado, não tinham uma história muito grande. Este estudo busca trazer um breve panorama da história de publicações de literatura brasileira na União Soviética, primeiramente por acreditarmos que a literatura é um dos instrumentos mais eficientes de difusão de culturas, e segundo para trazermos uma contribuição aos escassos estudos sobre as relações de dois países tão relevantes no cenário global. Buscamos colocar em discussão quais eram e como as políticas editoriais no período da Guerra Fria (1948-1991) tiveram um impacto na escolha de livros para publicação e na versão final de traduções das obras de literatura brasileira na União Soviética. Além disso, trazemos uma entrevista com o tradutor do par linguístico russo-português Aleksandr Bogdanóvski, para mostrar como eram as condições de trabalho no contexto soviético. Com isso, buscamos causar reflexões não apenas históricas, mas também sobre questões que podem influenciar o trabalho de revisores e tradutores atualmente.

В эпоху глобализации все больше и больше людей сталкиваются с культурами и народами, взаимодействие с которыми ранее являлось практически невозможным из-за языкового барьера или географической удаленности. Это также касается культурного обмена между Бразилией и Россией: в последнее столетие взаимодействие между странами стало значительно более интенсивным. Данное исследование призвано дать краткий обзор истории публикаций бразильской художественной литературы в Советском Союзе, во-первых, потому что мы полагаем художественную литературу одним из наиболее эффективных инструментов распространения культуры, а во-вторых, чтобы внести вклад в немногочисленные исследования по теме. Мы стремились обсудить редакционную политику в период холодной войны (1948–1991), а также её влияние на принятие решений о публикации книг и окончательные версии переводов бразильской художественной литературы. Кроме того, для того, чтобы показать условия работы в СССР в 1977-1991 гг., мы предлагаем интервью с переводчиком русскопортугальской языковой пары Александром Богдановским. Этим мы стремимся положить начало дискуссии не только о прошлом профессии, но и об актуальных вопросах работы редакторов и переводчиков.

In the age of globalization, more and more people meet cultures and peoples that were previously practically inaccessible, whether due to language barriers or simply geographic distance. This goes for cultural exchanges between Brazil and Russia, whose relations, until the last century, did not have a very long history. This study seeks to provide a brief overview of the history of Brazilian literature publications in the Soviet Union, firstly because we believe that literature is one of the most efficient instruments for the dissemination of cultures, and secondly to bring a contribution to the scarce studies on the relations of two countries so relevant on the current global stage. We sought to discuss which were the editorial policies in the Cold War period (1948-1991) and how they had an impact on the choice of books for publication and on the final version of translations of Brazilian literature in the Soviet Union. In addition, we bring an interview with the translator of the Russian-Portuguese language pair Aleksandr Bogdanóvski, to show what the working conditions were like in the Soviet context. With this, we seek to cause not only historical reflections, but also on issues that can influence the work of editors and translators today.
