Patrimônio em chamas: narrativas sobre o incêndio do Museu Nacional no jornal O Globo

Abstract

Este trabalho é uma análise da cobertura do jornal O Globo sobre o incêndio no Museu Nacional ocorrido em dois de setembro de 2018. Tem como objetivo identificar e analisar as narrativas jornalísticas sobre o patrimônio cultural e museológico brasileiro, a partir dos conceitos de patrimônio e memória. A investigação recaiu sobre uma amostra composta por imagens e textos publicados no período de 3 a 10 de setembro, nos quais foram explorados editoriais, colunas e notas publicados nos espaços destinados à opinião, à economia, à política e à cultura nas matérias sobre o ocorrido com o Museu Nacional. O foco do trabalho foi a análise das narrativas sobre patrimônio e memória presentes na cobertura daquele diário. As imagens vinculadas aos textos reforçaram a dramaticidade do episódio e foram objeto de análise. O jornal corroborou a importância do Museu Nacional, um dos maiores museus de História Natural e Antropologia das Américas e o fato de que seus duzentos anos de vida estão intrinsecamente ligados à história do Brasil, de Portugal e de outras regiões do mundo. Entretanto, informações divulgadas acerca do Museu, observadas durante a pesquisa, demonstram a necessidade de as instituições museológicas ampliarem o diálogo com os meios de comunicação para esclarecer suas funções e importância na produção de conhecimentos para a humanidade.

This piece is an analysis of the news coverage from the newspaper O Globo about the fire at the Museu Nacional happened in September 2nd, 2018. Its purpose is to identify and analyze the journalistic narratives about the brazilian cultural and museological estate, from the concepts of heritage and memory The investigation was made over a sample composed by images and texts published between September 3rd and 10th, in which opinion articles, columns and notes published at opinion, economy, politics and culture dedicated spaces were explored in news about the Museu Nacional happening. The focus of this piece was the analysis of the narractives about heritage and memory presented in the coverage of that diary. The images attached to the texts bolstered the episode's drama and were a matter of analysis as well. The newspaper supported the Museu Nacional significance, one of the biggest National History and Antropology museums from the Americas and the fact that its two hundred years of life are deeply bonded to the history of Brazil, Portugal and other regions of the world. However, info spreaded about the Museu, watched during the research demonstrate the need for the museum institutes to set up the dialogue with the media to clarify their function and importance at the knowledge production for humanity.
