Introdução: O vírus influenza é um dos principais causadores de mortes em idosos no sul brasileiro. Objetivo: Comparar as taxas de mortalidade por Influenza na população idosa no Sul do Brasil antes e durante a pandemia de Covid-19, afim de pensar estratégias para mitigar a prevalência da doença nesta população. Métodos: Estudo epidemiológico com análise dos dados de mortalidade e vacinação em idosos no sul do Brasil, extraídos a partir do DATA/SUS e SI/PNI, referentes aos anos de 2019 e 2020. Resultados: A influenza foi responsável por 6,35% e 4,60% dos óbitos em idosos no Sul brasileiro em 2019 e 2020 respectivamente. A taxa de mortalidade foi de 201 (2019) e 150 (2020) em cada 100.000 idosos. Conclusão: Medidas comportamentais e de vigilância utilizadas na pandemia da COVID-19 devem ser utilizadas para manter menores taxas de mortalidade em idosos no Sul do Brasil. ...
