Coronectomy in third molars, a surgical alternative in the prevention of inferior alveolar nerve paresthesia a literature review

Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)
Abstract
The aim of this study is to carry out a bibliographic research on the surgical technique of coronectomy. It´s widely known that paresthesia of the inferior alveolar nerve is one of the most common complications that can occur in the field of minor oral surgery, causing loss of sensibility in the affected area. Such tissue injury can significantly affect the patient's quality of life, and it can even favor the development of a depressive condition. The coronectomy technique emerged in order to p ...
The coronectomy technique emerged in order to prevent the occurrence of this paresthesia and is used in cases of close contact between the roots of the dental element and the inferior alveolar nerve canal. This conservative surgical maneuver consists of sectioning the tooth, removing its crown and lowering the remainder, keeping the roots in position and preventing nerve damage by dislocating them. Therefore, a bibliographic review will be carried out, with the main published scientific articles, which addressed the theme “Coronectomy”, for the elaboration of information, with critical and interpretative analyzes of the evidence available in the literature. ...
