Redescrição da náiade Mycetopodella falcata (Higgins, 1868) (Mollusca, Bivalvia, Mycetopodidae)

Abstract

Mycetopodella falcata (Higgins, 1868) é um bivalve límnico da família Mycetopodidae (Unionoida). Desde sua descrição original sofreu 3 realocações genéricas e acresceu uma espécie a sua sinonímia. As informações disponíveis sobre a espécie até o momento restringiam-se à descrição de sua morfologia valvar. Este trabalho teve como objetivo revisitar a bibliografia histórica de M. falcata, levantar dados morfométricos da concha, plotar o mapa da distribuição geográfica da espécie e apresentar o primeiro estudo da morfoanatomia das partes moles do animal. Segundo o mapa gerado com informações de coletas disponíveis da espécie, esta mostrou-se restrita à Bacia Amazônica. Em relação à anatomia, o estômago é do tipo IV de Purchon. O canal suprabranquial, os palpos labiais e o estômago da espécie mostraram algumas características semelhantes àquelas já conhecidas para anatomia de Bartlettia stefanensis (Moricand, 1856). O formato distal do pé de forma cônica, projetado em direção ao músculo adutor anterior é único entre os Mycetopodidae.

Mycetopodella falcata (Higgins, 1868) is a freshwater bivalve of the family Mycetopodidae (Unionoida). From its original description it underwent 3 generic relocations and amounted one species to its synonymy. The information available on the species has so far been restricted to the description of its valve morphology. This resarch aimed to revise the historical literature of M. falcata, to collect morphometric data from the shell, to plot the geographical distribution of the species and to present the first study of morphology of the soft parts of the animal. According to the map generated with data from available collections of the species, it showed as restricted to the Amazon Basin. In relation to the anatomy, the stomach is of type IV of Purchon. The suprabranchial canal, labial palps, and stomach of the species showed some characteristics similar to those already known for the anatomy of Bartlettia stefanensis (Moricand, 1856). The distal shape of the conical-shaped foot, projected towards the anterior adductor muscle is unique among Mycetopodidae.
