Uma discussão sobre generalizações no ensino fundamental

Abstract

Embora não haja um consenso entre os educadores sobre o que é generalização, todos reconhecem sua importância e seu papel na Educação Matemática. Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar e discutir esses pensamentos no ambiente de algumas atividades matemáticas. Para entender melhor esses conceitos, investigaremos aspectos presentes na linguagem humana. Finalmente, indicarei que atividades com uma seqüência de sugestões e questionamentos, nas quais o aluno busca, a partir do uso natural da linguagem cotidiana, uma generalização, possibilitam desenvolver o pensamento matemático.

Although there is no general or widespread agreement among educators about the concept of generalization, all recognize its role and importance in Mathematics Education. In this work we aim to present and discuss generalization within the setting of some mathematical activities. In order to better understand these issues, we investigate some aspects inherent in the human language. In conclusion, we indicate how the student's mathematical reasoning can be developed through a sequence of suggestions and questioning by which the student seeks generalizations using everyday language.
