A natureza da moeda moderna : a modern monetary theory na tradição pós-keynesiano e institucionalista

Abstract

Por meio de uma extensa revisão bibliográfica, este trabalho destrincha os princípios teóricos que constituem a Modern Monetary Theory, elucida a raiz fundante da tradição Pós-Keynesiana e o conceito de instituição dentro do institucionalismo heterodoxo - mais precisamente a construída por John Commons e Thorstein Veblen. O sentido de ser desta revisão bibliográfica é elucidar a existência de uma lógica teórica coerente interna da Modern Monetary Theory, ao passo que busca evidenciar o pertencimento da teoria enquanto uma ramificação da tradição Pós-Keynesiana com forte inclinação no uso do instrumento institucionalista heterodoxo, uma vez que trata a construção dos seus princípios, sobretudo na unidade de conta, como um hábito de pensar comum aos seres humanos. A dissertação confirma a coerência teórica da Modern Monetary Theory e seu pertencimento a tradição Pós-Keynesiana, ao passo que reforça o vínculo da abordagem monetária moderna com o institucionalismo heterodoxo.

Through an extensive literature review, this work unravels the theoretical principles that constitute the Modern Monetary Theory, elucidates the founding root of the post-Keynesian tradition and the concept of institution within heterodox institutionalism - more precisely the one constructed by John Commons and Thorstein Veblen. The purpose of this bibliographic review is to elucidate the existence of an internal coherent theoretical logic of Modern Monetary Theory, while it seeks to highlight the theory's belonging as a branch of the post-Keynesian tradition with a strong inclination to use the heterodox institutionalist instrument, a since it treats the construction of its principles, especially in the unit of account, as a habit of thinking common to human beings. The dissertation confirms the theoretical coherence of Modern Monetary Theory and its belonging to the post-Keynesian tradition, while reinforcing the link between the modern monetary approach and heterodox institutionalism.
