Memórias contextuais tendem a ficar mais genéricas com o passar do tempo, tornando-se independentes do hipocampo e dependentes do córtex para a sua evocação, um processo denominado „consolidação sistêmica‟. Esse efeito é aumentado com intervalos de tempo mais longos entre o treino e teste. A generalização, que nada mais é que a perda de precisão, é uma característica adaptativa importante da memória. Em mamíferos, o cérebro sofre uma variedade de mudanças na adolescência em estruturas que são importantes na modulação de processos da memória. Além disso, hormônios sexuais atuam sobre o cérebro e influenciem nas funções cognitivas, inclusive na memória, de forma específica ao sexo. Para verificar a precisão da memória, treinamos ratos Wistar adolescentes (P42-P49) machos e fêmeas no Condicionamento Aversivo ao Contexto, uma tarefa dependente do hipocampo, e os testamos 2,7,14 e 21 dias após no contexto em que foram treinados ou num novo. Para avaliar a dependência do hipocampo ratos fêmeas (P42-43) foram infundidas intrahipocampalmente com muscimol ou salina e testadas no contexto onde haviam recebido o choque. Resultados anteriores do nosso laboratório mostraram que ratos adolescentes machos generalizam a memória de medo aos 14 dias após o treino. Nossos resultados mostram que as fêmeas generalizam aos 21 dias, e machos têm a memória precisa aos 21 dias. Como esperado, a memória mantém-se precisa em ambos machos e fêmeas quando testadas 2 ou 7 dias após. ...
