Modernização da agricultura e situação atual dos agricultores da região de Tombali, província Sul, Guiné-Bissau

Abstract

Este trabalho procura compreender as condições de existência e as particularidades da evolução da agricultura na região de Tombali, província Sul de Guiné-Bissau. Buscou-se ressaltar os condicionantes naturais e históricos que marcam o desenvolvimento da agricultura desta região, destacando-se as suas características e as especificidades da situação atual. A partir da utilização da abordagem de sistemas agrários, buscou-se evidenciar as diferentes etapas da evolução histórica da agricultura da região. Para tanto, inicia-se com a descrição geográfica e socioeconômica da região de Tombali, destacando o segmento agrícola, seguida pela descrição dos aspectos geográficos relacionados a região de estudo. Em um segundo momento, procedeu-se a reconstituição da evolução e diferenciação dos sistemas agrários e suas particularidades no desenvolvimento da agricultura local. Como resultado, a história da agricultura local pode ser retratada pela sucessão de seis Sistemas Agrários. O processo de ocupação e exploração da região passou por diferentes momentos históricos, sendo influenciado principalmente pelas mudanças no meio rural. A análise da agricultura contemporânea revelou a existência de seis tipos de agricultores que incidem sobre a dinâmica atual de Região de Tombali. Esses diversos tipos de agricultores são portadores de características e estratégias de reprodução social diferentes, o que imprime dinâmicas plurais e diversas sobre as perspectivas de desenvolvimento de agricultura e do rural local. A aproximação realizada acerca da paisagem agrária da região de Tombali revelou um espaço agrário heterogêneo e fortemente marcado por duas realidades ambientais distintas.

This study seeks to understand the conditions of existence and the particularities of the evolution of agriculture in the Tombali region, southern province of Guinea-Bissau. We sought to highlight the natural and historical conditions that mark the development of agriculture in this region, highlighting its characteristics and specificities of the current situation. Using the agrarian systems approach, we sought to highlight the different stages of the historical evolution of agriculture in the region. Therefore, it begins with a geographic and socioeconomic description of Tombali region, highlighting the agricultural segment, followed by a description of the geographic aspects related to the study region. In a second moment, it proceeded to reconstitute the evolution and differentiation of agrarian systems and their particularities in the development of local agriculture. As a result, the history of local agriculture can be portrayed by the succession of six Systems - Agrarians. The process of occupation and exploration of the region went through different historical moments, being influenced mainly by changes in the rural environment. The analysis of contemporary agriculture revealed the existence of six types of farmers that affect the current dynamics of the Tombali Region. The different typologies have different characteristics and strategies of social reproduction, which show plural and diverse dynamics on the perspectives of development of agriculture and the local rural. two distinct environmental realities.
