This monograph, through the theory of materialist Discourse Analysis, analyzes the discursive construction present in the public opinion survey conducted by the DataFolha Institute in 2018 regarding the reduction of the age of criminal responsibility. The main objective of this study is to understand the enunciative functioning of some lexical items expressed in the linguistic materiality of the poll of public opinion through the theories proposed by Michael Pêcheux on the conception of the discourse as a socio-historical object. In the first moment of the analysis, we made a historical reviewto the concept of minority throughout the history of Brazil, in order to reflect on the crystallization of the meaning of this lexical item as a reference to criminality and marginalization and its uses in the current Brazilian context. Together with the minor lexical item, this research proposes to (re)think the stabilized / crystallized meanings of the items violence, person, youth, adolescent and child, to finally reflect on how PEC 32/2019, which provides for the reduction of the age of criminal responsibility, dialogues with the social imaginary about the agents of violence and criminality. It was found, after the analyzes, that the public opinion poll and the PEC 32/2019 resume statements already enunciated in the country about violence and crime, as well as the stereotypes linked to these agents.en
