This article examines statistical knowledge and its inclusion in the curriculum at different teaching levels. Using Foucault’s notion of governmentality, we suggest a political look at statistics as a domain of scientific knowledge and analyze its inclusion in the curriculum according to the National Guidelines for Elementary Education as a knowledge domain directed at governing the individual.
