Sherlock: a complexidade narrativa e o papel da montagem

Abstract

Este trabalho busca investigar como princípios da complexidade narrativa e da montagem cinematográfica são utilizados na construção da narrativa do seriado Sherlock (BBC, 2010-2017). Para isso, os métodos utilizados na realização desta pesquisa foram a pesquisa bibliográfica e a análise fílmica. O segundo capítulo traz o conceito de narrativa e narrativa seriada, tal como apresenta as diferentes categorias da serialização e explora o modelo da complexidade narrativa. O terceiro capítulo, então, investiga a presença dessas ideias no objeto de pesquisa, a partir da sua concepção, sua estrutura serial e seu uso da estética operacional e do engajamento do público. O quarto capítulo introduz o processo da montagem cinematográfica e suas funções, bem como os princípios de ritmo, tempo e espaço na sua atuação e as técnicas de elipse e gancho. Por fim, o quinto capítulo avalia a utilização desses princípios, técnicas e funções na construção da narrativa de Sherlock.

This paper seeks to investigate how principles of narrative complexity and cinematographic editing are used in the construction of Sherlock’s (BBB, 2010-2017) narrative. For this, the methods used in carrying out his research were bibliographic research and film analysis. The second chapter presents the concept of narrative and serial narrative, the different categories of serialization and explores the narrative complexity model. The third chapter, then, investigates the presence of these ideas in the research object, from its conception, its serial structure and its use of operational aesthetics and public engagement. The fourth chapter introduces the process of cinematographic editing and its functions, as well as the principles of rhythm, time and space in its performance and the ellipse and hook techniques. Finally, the fifth chapter assesses the use of these principles, techniques and functions in the construction of Sherlock’s narrative.
