Aproximações & afastamentos : o manifesto da UNESCO sobre bibliotecas públicas na perspectiva das bibliotecas da Grande Porto Alegre, RS

Abstract

Relaciona a atuação das bibliotecas públicas da grande Porto Alegre com o Manifesto da UNESCO sobre Bibliotecas Públicas. Através da abordagem quantiqualitativa, verifica até que ponto as diretrizes recomendadas pelo Manifesto são seguidas pelas bibliotecas analisadas. Correlaciona as funções da biblioteca pública com as diretrizes do Manifesto e identifica os serviços disponibilizados pelas bibliotecas que as contempla. Traça através de levantamento bibliográfico um panorama histórico das bibliotecas públicas no Brasil, no Rio Grande do Sul e sob a perspectiva da UNESCO. Propõe medidas que tornem as diretrizes do Manifesto da UNESCO sobre Bibliotecas Públicas mais úteis e aplicáveis junto às bibliotecas da grande Porto Alegre.

It associates the performance of public libraries in the Greater Porto Alegre area to the UNESCO Manifest for Public Libraries. Through quantitative and qualitative approach, check to what extent the guidelines recommended by the Manifesto are followed by libraries analyzed. Correlates the functions of the public library with the guidelines of the Manifest and identifies the services provided by libraries at present. Describe through literature a historical overview of public libraries in Brazil, in Rio Grande do Sul and from UNESCO’s perspective. Proposes actions to make the guidelines of the UNESCO Manifest on Public Libraries more useful and applicable to libraries in the Greater Porto Alegre area.
