Investimento estrangeiro e fluxo imigratório : duas âncoras do crescimento da economia argentina no século XIX

Abstract

O investimento externo e o fluxo imigratório europeu foram um dos seus aspectos marcantes do período do crescimento econômico argentino iniciado no final do século XIX, a Belle Époque. Em relação ao investimento, se destaca a extrema importância do capital britânico, sendo essa uma das facetas mais relevantes da relação especial entre a Argentina e a Grã-Bretanha. Outra característica deste período foi o papel da imigração, pela enorme contribuição que a mesma teve na performance da economia argentina. Em razão disso, o estudo dessas duas âncoras do crescimento da economia argentina deste período consiste no objeto do presente artigo. O trabalho será dividido em duas partes. A primeira parte tratará do papel dos investimentos e dos empréstimos externos estrangeiro na Argentina. A segunda examinará o papel da imigração na formação da mão-de-obra argentina.

Within the period of economic growth Argentinean - Belle Époque - started at the end of the seventies in the nineteenth century, foreign investment and emigration were some of its most striking aspects. Regarding foreign investment, it is the extreme importance of the British capital, and that one of the most important facets of the special relationship between Argentina and Britain. The period also marks the arrival of large arrival of a large flow of immigrants, both anchors of the Argentine economic growth. This theme will be examined in two main segments. In the first segment the focus will be on foreign investment and the loans in Argentina. The second segment will deal with the process of emigration and its rule in the labor in Argentina.
