Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

This monography deals with a thermal energy evaluation of a single-family building located in Porto Alegre. Through an energy audit of the building, input data was collected for the EnergyPlus software to perform annual energy calculations. Initially, the current consumption of the building was simulated, and then proposed improvements were simulated to reduce electricity consumption and increase the energy efficiency of the building. Among the improvements, the use of shading awnings, painting of the roof tiles, and changing the light bulbs in the lighting system to LEDs were adopted as solutions. After the simulations, all the proposed improvements were combined in one simulation and the total annual savings that could be obtained by implementing these proposals in the building were verified. It was found that the largest percentage of the electrical consumption is attributed to the electrical equipment, followed by the lighting system. When the air conditioning system was used only during the night in summer days, its energy consumption represented a portion of 8% of the total energy consumed by the residence. At the end of the study, it was possible to conclude that changes in the color of the roof tiles can reduce the thermal load considerably and changes in the architecture, relatively simple, can represent a passive solution for air conditioning. ...
