Bordando feminismos : uma questão de gênero

Abstract

Nesse trabalho de conclusão de curso, propõe-se investigar a história do bordado ocidental e suas interlocuções com a história das mulheres. Para tanto, traça-se uma análise dos diferentes papéis assumidos pelo bordado ao longo da História da Arte Ocidental e sua conexão com a produção criativa das mulheres. A vinculação do bordado com a Igreja na Idade Média, seu rebaixamento à arte menor durante a Renascença, o fortalecimento de sua vinculação com o ideal feminino na Inglaterra Vitoriana, o seu descrédito junto às primeiras pensadoras feministas, a ruptura do bordado com o ideal feminino, a subversão de seus usos na arte a partir da década de 1970 e sua vinculação com movimentos políticos e sociais. Abordaremos, assim, a relação entre bordado, arte, feminilidade e feminismo.

In this research, it is proposed to investigate the history of western embroidery and its interlocutions with the history of women. Therefore, an analysis of the different roles assumed by embroidery throughout the History of Western Art and its connection with the creative production of women is outlined. The link of embroidery with the Church in the Middle Ages, its demotion to minor art during the Renaissance, the strengthening of its link with the feminine ideal in Victorian England, its disrepute with the first feminist thinkers, the rupture of embroidery with the feminine ideal, the subversion of its uses in art since the 1970s and its connection with political and social movements. Thus, we will approach the relationship between embroidery, art, femininity and feminism.
