Feitiçaria, Magia e Heresia na bula papal Quod super nonnullis de Alexandre IV (1258)

Abstract

Ao longo dos séculos, a magia e seus praticantes foram vistos de diversas maneiras, tanto na literatura quanto em textos oficiais. O século XIII antecede os momentos finais do período medieval e é o início de uma maior ação repressora dos inquisidores contra as heresias, entre elas a feitiçaria. O papa Alexandre IV se insere nesse contexto ao continuar os debates iniciados por seus antecessores em relação ao tratamento destinado às heresias e como proceder em relação a elas, principalmente possibilitando o início da perseguição à práticas mágicas e seus atores. O objetivo principal desta pesquisa é compreender como a discussão sobre a questão da magia aparece na bula papal Quod super nonnullis, do papa Alexandre IV, 1258. É necessário compreender como essa discussão é tratada por ele na bula selecionada, e que contexto da Europa e da Igreja Católica medieval possibilitou essa representação.

Over the centuries, magic and its practitioners have been seen in many ways, both in literature and in official texts. The thirteenth century precedes the final moments of the medieval period and is the beginning of a greater repressive action by the Inquisitors against heresies, including witchcraft. Pope Alexander IV fits into this context as he continues the discussions initiated by his predecessors regarding the treatment of heresies and how to proceed with them, especially allowing the beginning of the persecution of magical practices and their actors. The main purpose of this research is to understand how the discussion on the question of magic appears in pope Alexander IV`s Quod super nonnullis bull, 1258. It is necessary to understand how he makes this discussion in the selected bull, and what context of Europe and Medieval Catholic Church made this representation possible.
